Sue Morrison has been teaching, directing and collaborating on Clown and Bouffon across the globe for more than 20 years. Her students are currently featured in Cirque du Soleil, Slava?s Snow Show, Blue Man Group, Second City and theatrical stages all over Europe and North & South America.
An accomplished Clown and Bouffon in her own right, Sue began studying and co-facilitating with Master Teacher, Phillipe Gaulier, while performing and teaching at Second City. Then, in 1980 on a quest to ?work from her heart? she met Clown Through Mask visionary, Richard Pochinko, and after studying with him for several years he chose her to become his apprentice. Today, Morrison?s unique and powerful work brings together the diverse elements of Native American Clowning, Clown Through Mask, Bouffon, Le Jeu and Improvisation, ultimately creating dynamic performance spectacles.
She has taught at the Dell?Arte School of Physical Theatre, and teaches and creates regularly with the LUME Company in Brazil, as well as Artistic Directing Toronto?s Theatre Resource Centre since 1993. In 2004 & 2005 Sue was a Master Speaker on Clown at the ECUM World Theater Conference, San Paulo. In 2005 Speaking with Colombioni, who was featured in Fellni?s The Clowns. The Bravo Arts Channel aired Burnt Tongue directed by Sue and her unique clown work is the focus of several documentaries.
In NYC this spring, Sue collaborated on Absence of Magic, which was acclaimed by TimeOut and The Village Voice. Other recent works in NYC include John Brown Theater?s The Bastard American Show, co-creation of the popular bouffon, Red Bastard, and the 2000 NY International Fringe Festival hit Clowns In the Vagina with Asylum 137.
